On the old Glocks Gen. 1 and Gen 2, there was a 3-letter date code on the barrel that was not part of the serial number.
This date code identified the production date, but Glock stopped putting them on the guns a long time ago.
The serial number on the gun has never indicated the date - it's simply the gun's identification.
