- Ordnance inspection marks “G, P, W” on metal parts (U.S. Ordnance Department / military inspectors)

- Dark wooden grips with partially visible inspector’s cartouche “JWK” for James W. Kinsley, sub-inspector of the U.S. Ordnance Department during the American Civil War (active mid to late war period)

- Octagonal barrel with rifling still sharp and well defined.
