Fine piece, 85/90% condition.
W+F Bern produced a total of 37,254 Model 1882 revolvers for the army, bearing the numbers 1 to 37,254.
- Up to weapon number 4'000, the band above the barrel was just under 3 mm thick.
- From weapon number 4,000 to around 17,000, the bar was 3 to 4 mm thick.
- Up to weapon number 20,000, hard rubber grip panels with Swiss crosses were fitted.
- From weapon number 20,000 onwards and until the end of production, wooden grip panels were fitted.
The Model 1882 Ordnance Revolver was replaced by parabellum pistols and the Model 1929 Ordnance Revolver, but remained in service until the 1970s.
