Production of the 1903 by Rock Island Arsenal ended in 1919 with s/n 348'414.
At the end of production Rock Island Arsenal sent Springfield Armory a batch of unfinished 1903 cases with RIA markings.
As this occurred several years after RIA production, the numbers were higher than those used when Rock Island made these rifles.
It must therefore be one of those 20,000 rifles built in the 1920s and 1940s by Springfield Armory with these RIA cases.
