After the publication "Die Munition zum Mausergewehr 71" and "Von der Patrone 88 à la cartouche S", published separately by the Cartridge Collectors' Association, the present This third part retraces the history of the German infantry cartridge. 7.9 mm until 1945.

Important sources used are minutes and documents from the Army Weapons Office and various ammunition factories, as well as army ordinance sheets and time-step articles, in particular by former Army Weapons Office employee Otto Morawietz, and post-war investigation reports on the inspection of German armaments companies by British and American specialists.
