The Sestroryetsk arsenal (rare) ceased production in 1919 when it was captured by the Communists, then by the Finns. Quite a rare weapon.
Breech and frame numbers match. This example is dated “1916” and bears numerous inspection marks, the markings are legible.
The left side of the barrel is marked “SA” inside a rectangle, for Suomi Armeija (Finnish Army).
When Finland gained independence from Russia on December 6, 1916, over 190,000 Model 1891 infantry rifles were already stored in former Russian military depots in Finland.
The rifle was therefore adopted as the standard weapon of the Finnish army.
