.
A Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk. 1/2 rifle manufactured in England by the Royal Ordnance Factory (ROF) Maltby in 1943, with the original text “No. 4 Mk. I” engraved on the left side of the receiver and (barely legible) “M. 1943” stamped on the left side of the grip.
It was upgraded to a No. 4 Mk 1/2 rifle by ROF Fazakerley in 1954, with the left side of the receiver lightly stamped “No 4 Mk I/2 (F) FTR /54” next to the rifle's serial number. It was thus equipped with an improved trigger and a more sophisticated micrometric rear sight to bring it up to the standard of the new Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk 3 rifle.
.
Handling and storage wear, typical of a well-preserved surplus military rifle.
