Colt M2 Heavy Barrels (M2HB) Machine Gun 

Manufactured by Colt Hartford Connecticut USA, Colt's production of M2 Heavy Barrels (M2HB) was 18,429 from 1940 to 1943, out of a total of 240,702 .50 BMG calibers.

Updated and reconditioned to new in April 1945 at the Raritan arsenal in New Jersey, see markings RA on main plate and 4 45 (numbers struck for April 1945) on inside of breech housing cover.

After 78 years, this machine gun still hasn't fired since 1945. It spent 63 years in various arsenals and has been back in the open air since 2008 as a private exhibit.

This model is one of the first made (S/N 286), in perfect condition, and the remote release system is operational and requires no adjustment or repair.

The M63 carriage was adopted in May 1944, and some 48,000 were produced during WW2 by the Heintz Manufacturing Co. of Philadelphia, at the request of Airborne Command, which wanted a carriage of reasonable weight (the M63 weighs 144 pounds, or 65.4 kg) for mounting on light boats or transportable to places inaccessible to vehicles.

This mount can also be used with the M1919A4 .30 cal Browning light machine gun (LMG).
