Webley Mk V revolvers were manufactured between 1913 and 1915, with the smallest serial number 129'926 and the largest 214'233.
All 20,000 Mark Vs were manufactured in just two years.
The Mark V is Webley's smallest production run.
In its standard version, the Mk V had a 4-inch barrel and weighed only half an ounce more than the Mk IV, which had been in service since 1899.
The Mk V pistol fired the Mk V cordite cartridge, recently introduced at the time.
The Mark V was introduced on December 9, 1913, and accepted for service on June 5, 1914.
At the outbreak of the First World War, Her Majesty's Government ordered twenty thousand of these to be delivered to the British Army from September 1914.
In November 1914, the Mk V cartridge was withdrawn from service and replaced by the Mk II cartridge made from an alloy of 99% lead and 1% antimony.
Six months later, the Webley Mk VI revolver was introduced to replace the Mk V and became the standard handgun of the British Army, Royal Flying Corps/Royal Airforce and Royal Navy for the rest of the year.
